Patient Information Leaflets are a great way to convey clinically accurate health advice and information to your patients. These leaflets are available directly from the EMIS Web system and can be sent to patients via email, allowing them to receive important information directly in their inbox.
Sending Patient Information Leaflets via Email
To email a Patient Information Leaflet, first access the Care Record. Use the EMIS menu to navigate to the Care Record module and select the patient whose record you're working on. If a patient isn’t currently selected, you’ll be prompted to choose one.
- Once in the Care Record, locate the Information Leaflets screen. This can be found by right-clicking on a specific clinical problem or from the top ribbon, allowing you to search through available resources.
- After selecting a suitable leaflet for your patient, click on Send to patient. This will open an email screen pre-populated with the patient’s email address if stored within EMIS Web.
- Ensure you obtain the patient's consent before sending the email. Tick the necessary consent box in the email screen to confirm this.
- Double check the email address displayed is correct. This email address is pulled from the patient’s record in EMIS Web – if it's incorrect or missing, you'll need to update it manually before sending the email.
- Upon clicking Send email, this action will add a consultation note to the patient’s Care Record, including a link to the leaflet in PDF format for the patient to access.
By sending Information Leaflets via email, practitioners save time whilst maintaining direct communication with patients, delivering information efficiently and confidentially.
It's important to note that emails are sent from a central mailbox to ensure the privacy and security of both the patient and practice. Reminder notices mentioned in the email suggest patients should not reply directly to these communications.
