Creating and Sending Cross-Organisation Tasks in EMIS Web
Cross-organisation tasks in EMIS Web enable seamless collaboration among different healthcare services operating under separate organisations. This feature is vital for sharing crucial information efficiently without the need for multiple logins, thereby enhancing workflow efficiency.
Setting Up Sharing Agreements
Before you can create and send cross-organisation tasks, you need to ensure that your organisation has a task sharing agreement in place. EMIS sets up these agreements, and they must be activated in the EMIS Web using the Data Sharing Manager. If you don't have any agreements, this option will not be visible.
Configuring users, teams, services, and service people
Each entity (users, teams, services, service people) must be configured to send and receive tasks. To set this up:
- Users: Access the EMIS Web menu, navigate to Configuration and then Organisation Configuration. Select Users and edit the required user under Cross Organisation Sharing.
- Teams: Follow a similar navigation path to Teams and ensure they are set to accept tasks.
- Services and Service People: Access through Services and edit the settings under the Cross Organisation Sharing tab.
Adding a Cross-Organisation Task
To add a cross-organisation task, navigate to the Tasks via the EMIS Web menu and Workflow Manager:
- On the ribbon, click Add Task.
- Select the task type from the dropdown. If it's a patient task, ensure the patient is registered in both organisations.
- Set the due date and recipients, selecting the relevant user, team, or service.
- Add necessary details in the Notes field and send the task by clicking Send.
The ability to share tasks across organisations in EMIS Web saves administrators time, reduces redundancies, and facilitates smoother communication across teams.
Viewing Cross-Organisation Tasks
In the Workflow Manager, tasks can be accessed and managed through the To-Do List. Hovering over the user icon reveals the sender’s organisation details, allowing you to identify the task source easily.
