To accept an eRS provider referral and attach any downloaded referral letters to a patient’s record in EMIS Web, follow these steps. This process helps ensure your practice maintains current and comprehensive patient records, vital for ongoing patient care and communication.
Accessing Referral Management
Begin by logging into EMIS Web with your assigned smartcard. In the EMIS Web menu, navigate to Workflow Manager and select Referral Management from the navigation pane. Here you will see all pending tasks related to referrals.
Completing the Referral
- Select eRS Provider Bookings from the navigation pane to see tasks awaiting action.
- Choose the relevant eRS Provider booking task and click Open Portal on the ribbon to open the eRS portal within EMIS Web.
- On the eRS Provider portal, review the referral letter and other details. Ensure compliance with local information governance when downloading any files.
- Back in EMIS Web, click Complete Task on the ribbon.
- In the Inbound Referral screen, complete each tab by filling out mandatory fields denoted by an asterisk (*), then press Next to proceed, and Back to revise any entries as needed.
Attaching Downloaded Referral Letters
- If there is a referral letter available on the eRS Provider portal, download it to your system securely following your IG procedures.
- Right-click the relevant referral in EMIS Web, select Navigate to and then Referral.
- On the Referrals screen, select the new referral entry. On the ribbon, click Add, then Document, and finally select Attach Document.
- Locate and select the downloaded referral letter. On the Attach Document screen, ensure to Link to Referral. This action integrates the referral letter into the patient’s electronic record, maintaining a comprehensive history of their healthcare journey.
