Issuing Medication with a Service Override in EMIS Web
To issue medication with a service override in EMIS Web, you need to complete the following steps:
Access the Medication Module:
- Click the EMIS Web menu, navigate to Care Record, and select Medication.
- Select the patient for whom you want to issue the medication.
Issue Medication:
- If the medication is new, complete the Add a Drug screen, then click Issue. The Issue screen will display options for issuing the medication.
- If issuing existing medication, simply select the medication from the Current Medication screen and click Issue.
Apply Service Override:
- On the Issue screen, EMIS Web may display alerts or warnings. If a service override is needed, you can select the appropriate option to proceed with issuing against the recommended caution.
- You will need appropriate authorisation and justifiable reasons to proceed with a service override. This ensures patient safety and compliance with prescribing norms.
This functionality is particularly beneficial in scenarios that require flexibility in prescribing, allowing prescribers to maintain care continuity without unnecessary delay.
Complete the Prescription:
- After addressing any necessary checks and applying the override, complete the prescription by selecting Approve and Complete and entering the Smartcard PIN if required.
