To filter and view abnormal lab reports in EMIS Web, navigate to the Lab Reports section within Workflow Manager. This powerful tool assists in efficiently managing and processing lab reports by offering robust filtering and organisational options.
Accessing Lab Reports
First, ensure you have the necessary permissions assigned, specifically RBAC activity B0360, which allows access to detailed health records. In the EMIS Web interface, click the EMIS Web menu, choose Workflow Manager, and then select Lab Reports from the navigation pane on the left.
Viewing Abnormal Results
Once you're in the Lab Reports section, you can use the upper pane to select the Inbox where you can filter through various lab reports. To view only those with abnormal readings, utilise the filter options:
- Navigate to the ribbon at the top of the Lab Reports screen.
- Select Filter - Abnormal, which will display all lab reports marked with abnormal readings.
An abnormal reading is identified by a red exclamation mark in the report, highlighting readings that are outside the normal reference range. Hovering over these flags may provide additional context and interpretations.
If a report is flagged as abnormal, it requires immediate attention to ensure timely follow-up, which is crucial for optimal patient care.
Managing Abnormal Reports
Once identified, you can further manage these reports by adding clinical notes or assigning tasks to appropriate team members directly from the Lab Reports interface. This ensures that results that need immediate action are not overlooked.
Regularly reviewing and managing abnormal reports not only facilitates compliance with clinical safety standards but also enhances the efficiency of the practice workflow.
