EMIS Web offers flexible configuration options for managing repeat medications, ensuring patients maintain a consistent medication routine. To configure expiration settings for repeat medications, follow these steps:
Accessing the Medication Record
First, navigate to the patient's medical record in EMIS Web. Select the Medication option from the Care Record menu. This will display the medication screen, providing a comprehensive view of the patient's prescriptions.
Configuring Expiration Settings
- Select the Medication: Choose the repeat medication you wish to configure from the list displayed.
- Adjust RX Type: To set expiration parameters, click on the RX Type on the ribbon bar and select Repeat Dispensing if not already selected.
- Set the Number of Issues: Input the desired number of authorised repeat issues that can be dispensed before reauthorisation is necessary. This setting controls how long the medication can be dispensed without a review.
- Include Review Dates: If needed, set a review date by clicking the calendar icon and selecting the appropriate date, ensuring regular evaluation of the patient's medication needs.
- Authorisation Adjustments: If necessary, change the authorising clinician by using the search tool beside the Authorising Clinician field.
Confirm the changes by clicking Authorise, and the medication will now be configured under the Repeat Dispensing category.
